Wise Men Still Seek Jesus (Episode 1)

Matthew 2 vs 1 to 3(KJV)

1.Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

2.Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

3.When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

  

  Wise men still seek Jesus that's the topic we are going to discuss today. Husbands that are wise, they still seek Jesus, wives that are wise, they still seek Jesus. Men of timber and caliber who are wise, they still seek Jesus. By the way who is a wise man, you know we read about wise men here, right? that when Jesus was born in Bethlehem that wise men visited him, so these wise men who are they? ; These men were probably members of a learned religious class from the East (A region now called Iran) and they specialized in astrology, in medicine and natural science. Their visit to jerusalem when they were looking for Jesus, that visit occurred between 40 days and 2 years of Jesus's birth i.e their visit occurred when Jesus was between 40 days and 2 years, it was in-between that time that they visited. And the Bible doesn't tell us how many of them that visited, but christian tradition tells us that they were Three and even assigned names to them;that one of them was called by Gasper, the other one Melchior , the other one Belthazar. But our concern today is not even their number, our concern today is not even their names. 

We are satisfied with the Biblical account of the MAGI, what we know that the Bible said is that the magi, the wise men came from the East came looking for Jesus. Now how does the Bible define the wise men?, what does the world call wise men or a wise man?. 

The wise from the dictum of the world, the dictum of the natural man are people with high intellectual prowess, they are people the world calls wise, people with high level of social standing, people that have high political status, people that have high financial muscles, but that is just an opposite of what God calls wise. 

Yes! Your academic prowess, ur social standing, your political status, your financial muscles does not make you wise, can not make you wise before God.

      There are many people with great intellectual prowess, yet they are horrible fools in the sight of God, There are many people with great financial muscles, great political status and social standing and yet they are very big fools before God.

Why? Because they have no time for God in their lives, the God they know is their money , the God they know is their certificate, the God they know is their title, the God they know is their social standing,the God they know is their political status. So they have no time for God and God looks at them as fools.

 Psalm chapter 14 verse 1 puts it this way "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good"

 So what made this magi wise,these men we read about in the scripture, what made them wise or how were they recognized as wise in the bible.

 It was not because of their social standing, it has nothing to do with their wealth, it has nothing to do with their place of origin, it has nothing to do with their human connections.It was just because of their ability to corporate with the revelation that God gave about the king of Kings that was born. It was their ability to corporate with the revelation that was given to them about the son of God who became the son of man that men might become sons of God...
